About this speaker
First, you should know that Eric is the anchor of this relationship. One might say he also was the one who chased me until I gave in – but that is a story for another time. So… Eric grew up doing all the things outdoors. Backpacking with his dad, sleeping in lean-to tents, climbing peaks in the Adirondacks with his family… you know, all the things with dirt and wildlife. On the other hand – I did not. In fact, I recall many summers when my parents would actually have to force me out of the house, into the backyard, and away from the TV.
Spoiler alert – things have not changed.
Eric and I celebrated 20 years of marriage in 2020. In those 20 years, we’ve raised 3 children together, moved our family from New York to Florida to chase the sunshine, and lived in the same home for the last 12 years before embarking on this new adventure. As our children grew up and moved out of our home one by one, we were left with just our 11-year-old Yorkie, Pita – and started to imagine what we could get into next. After trips to places like Key West, Florida, and Maui, Hawaii – we could picture ourselves selling everything and living like nomads. The simple life was appealing, but it didn’t feel perfect.
After many conversations, and almost 2 years of the weekend exploring in our first camper – we started to seriously consider what it would be like to become full-time RVers. We immersed ourselves in YouTube channels like Keep Your Daydream and Changing Lanes. Their videos kept us entertained, inspired, and motivated toward reaching our goals. We also watched hours of walk-through videos – comparing floorplans and must-have features. We gained so much insight from these videos, but it also really helped that Eric once worked as an RV tech years ago – making him familiar with much of this information. We ultimately landed on the perfect floor plan for our needs and purchased the 2020 Grand Design Imagine 2670mk in November 2019.
